When installing an Advantage style parallelogram lift, it is critically important the proper distance between lower leg brackets be precisely maintained. In fact, the distance between lower leg brackets is so important, adjustable lower leg brackets are included in all EQ Renew remanufactured lift packages.
Imagine if you will, a cardboard box open at the top and bottom, that has one short or long side. The box no longer forms a parallelogram, and when you try to lay the box flat, it simply will not lay down. The same is true for a parallelogram lift. If the lift is installed “short” or “long”, operation will be sloppy and lock timing will be compromised. In addition, a tremendous amount of additional stress will be imposed upon the rear leg brackets if the lower leg brackets were installed “long” (too far apart). In some cases, the installer of a parallelogram lift will miss the dimension to the point the lift will not operate safely, as the lift cannot be securely placed in the lock position due to poor lock timing.
Adjustable Leg Bracket kits are available in painted, galvanized or stainless options, and are version specific. When an order is placed, we will ask several questions and provide a data sheet in order to determine the “vintage” of the lower leg bracket we are replacing.
